The National SpeedSkating Circuit makes its return to the Speedway SportsComplex in Lincoln, NE, on July 9th.

The National SpeedSkating Circuit, the professional league for inline speed skating, makes its return to Lincoln NE, for NSC 35. Inline speed skating is one of the most exciting sports in the world. Athletes race around a 100-meter wooden oval track at breakneck speeds. If you haven’t seen it before, you are in for a treat. The seating at the Speedway Sports Complex has an intimate feel, where you can literally feel the wind as the racers fly by.

Among the list of elite athletes competing is Erin Jackson, who made a name for herself as the first Black woman to win an Olympic gold medal in long track speed skating during the 2022 Beijing Olympic Games. Many of the Olympic speed skaters got their start competing in the world of inline speed skating, and Erin is one of the best of them. On July 9th at the Speedway Sports Complex in Lincoln, NE, we get to see how an Olympic gold medalist fares against some of the world’s best women inline speed skaters, including reigning NSC Grand Champion Kelsey Rodgers.

On the men’s side we have the return of NSC Grand Champion Gabe Lyons. He will be attempting to retain his title against 19 of the best male indoor speed skaters in the world. We expect nothing less than fireworks.

“We are so excited to be back in Lincoln, NE, for NSC 35. The city of Lincoln has a long history of hosting speed skating. As a kid, I grew up competing every summer in the Pershing Auditorium for our US Indoor Nationals. Now as an adult, I get to present the sport I love to the people of Lincoln with some extra flare,” said league President Miguel Jose. “The event is open to all ages, and kids under 5 get in FREE,” he added.

The concept of the NSC is to find out who the best overall male and female speed skaters are in the world. The men and women are divided into two categories, sprinters and endurance. Both men and women in the sprint category race a 300 meter and 500 meter in their respective divisions and on the endurance side, the men race a 1000 meter and a 1600 meter, while the women race a 1000 meter and 1300 meter. The top 3 overall sprinters and the top 3 overall endurance skaters move on to the Grand Champion Main Event, which is an 800-meter middle distance race. The winners of the 800 meter Grand Champion Race for the men and women are awarded the coveted “Black Suit,” along with prize money for their accomplishment.
For Release July 1st, 2023

“Growing up speed skating, one of my biggest goals was to become the NSC Grand Champion. Last year I accomplished that goal at the age of 19,” said NSC Grand Champion Gabe Lyons. “I have zero intention of giving my title away. NSC 35 is going to be a challenge.

“This will be the most stacked field that I have ever competed against. Winning back-to-back Grand Champion titles will prove to the world that I am the best indoor speed skater,” Lyons said. “I’m excited to put on a performance for all the people watching in Lincoln NE, on July 9th, and to all the people who will be tuning in to the broadcast world wide.”

Tickets are available for the event on our website at pronsc.com, as well as at the door. It’s $20 for admission and the event starts at 6:30pm, July 9th at the Speedway Sports Complex. Doors open at 5:30pm.
