The Prairie Pines Nature Preserve is a 145-acre property containing an arboretum, woodland, grassland and a 10-acre remnant tall grass prairie. Its purpose is to provide "habitat for all living things through conservation, education and experience to promote a lasting connection with the natural world and its resources". It is home to diverse wildlife and contains many grassed walking trails and opportunities for passive and active nature interaction. Special nature based educational activities for all ages are held on the Second Saturday of the month from April-January. Please check website for events and visitation. The memorials include World War I, World War II, Korea, Vietnam, Pearl Harbor, Airborne, Air Force, Coast Guard, Disabled Veterans, Ex-Prisoners of War, K-9 Corps, China-Burma-India, Medical, Seabees and others.
