Reconnect with Arts. Your soul needs it! The 20th Lincoln Arts Festival is moving to Canopy Street & the Railyard in Lincoln’s historic Haymarket, the city’s entertainment destination! This year’s Festival is a creative celebration and exploration of the arts. The two-day event showcases 100+ artists from 21 states, new and emerging local artists and makers, live performances, art demonstrations, interactive art activities for the whole family, and even some unexpected, spontaneous happenings. The Lincoln Arts Festival is inclusive, accessible, and welcoming to all artists and art enthusiasts, and a place for artists and creators to use their voices to make positive changes in our community. Our festivals provide a venue for talented artists to sell their original art to art enthusiasts while offering patrons the opportunity to meet the artist, explore their work, commission a new piece of art, or purchase existing works. The Festival features nearly 100 artists from across the country working in a variety of mediums including clay, drawing, fiber, glass, jewelry, mixed-media, painting, photography, printmaking, sculpture, and wood. Local Artists. The Festival is also a celebration of our local talent. Every year the Lincoln Arts Festival features a variety of seasoned and emerging artists from right here in Lincoln and the surrounding area. Come check out your local favorites or meet Lincoln’s emerging talent at our Emerging Artist area featuring four artists new to the Festival world. Makers Market For the first time ever, the Festival will feature a local Makers Market in Partnership with the South of Downtown Community Development Organization. The Makers Market is the spot to discover and shop from creative entrepreneurs in the Everett Neighborhood, Near South Neighborhood and their surrounding areas of Lincoln, NE. Performances In addition to providing nearly 100 visual artists and makers a space to showcase their works and wares, the Festival also presents free performances by local artists and performers. Scheduled performances by local musicians, dancers, and other performers will be augmented by other spontaneous performances throughout the Festival. Creative Zone – Interactive Art Experiences Our upstArt Creative Zone is a fun, interactive art experience designed to spark the talents in Lincoln’s art lovers. Built around our upstArt art engagement programming, we are nurturing the next generation of artists through partnerships with leading art organizations and programs in the city such as ArtBus Lincoln, Pincurl Girls and others. Art Demonstrations Ever wanted to watch an artist blow glass, create Raku pottery piercing or develop large format photographs? The Festival will feature a variety of arts demonstrations to give you an inside look at how art is created. Livestream For the first time ever, the Festival will be livestreamed. Catch the performances, art demonstration, artist interviews and more on Lincoln Calling TV. Started in early 2021 as an outgrowth of the Lincoln Calling Music Festival, LCTV to allow interactive opportunities for artists, musicians, educators, and small businesses/organizations throughout the year. In addition to streaming the live elements of the Festival, our livestream will also feature pre-recorded works from local artists and organizations. Check out LCTV on their website. LAF FAQs When is the Festival? Saturday, June 19th 10am-6pm and Sunday June 20th 10am-5pm. There will also be a free Lincoln Calling local music showcase Saturday, June 19th 6-10pm. Where is the Festival? The Festival will be located along Canopy Street between ‘O’ and ‘R’ Streets and in the Railyard in the Historic Haymarket District. How much does it cost? Nothing! The Lincoln Arts Festival is free of charge to ensure anyone who wants to experience Lincoln’s amazing art community can. Where do I park? There is plenty of public parking (thousands of parking spaces) right next to the Festival. You can park in any of the following City of Lincoln parking garages. Your first hour is always free, then $1.25/hr. The Festival will feature nearly 100 artists from across the country. Many of the artists are based right here in Lincoln. Where can I learn more about the artists at the Festival or find my favorite artist? Information on our artists will be available soon. What all is happening at the Festival? Nearly 100 artists will be selling their works from 10-6 Saturday and 10-5 Sunday. In addition, there will be numerous interactive arts activities for people of all ages, arts demonstrations, and performances on the stage in the Railyard and throughout the Festival footprint. How can I participate if I can’t make it to the Festival? For the first time ever the Lincoln Arts Festival will be livestreamed on Lincoln Calling TV. Check out the performances, artist demonstrations and other art content exclusive to the livestream at tv.lincolncalling.com Is the Festival family-friendly? It is! There will be lots of activities for kids and families. We want everyone to enjoy the arts at the Festival! Will there be food? Because the pandemic hit Lincoln’s restaurant businesses so hard, we encourage you to patronize one of the many great restaurants located along Canopy Street and throughout the Haymarket while you’re at the Festival. Will there be alcohol? Railyard establishments will be serving alcohol during the Festival. However, alcohol cannot leave the designate Railyard space (you cannot carry your drink throughout the Festival). What about Covid Safety? We value the safety of all artists, performers and patrons who participate in the Lincoln Arts Festival. While we are optimistic about the pace of COVID-19 vaccinations in Lancaster County, we understand that caution is still required. At this time, we are considering multiple scenarios to maximize safety in partnership with the Lancaster County Health Department - they will evolve as local, state and CDC guidance continues to evolve. Social distancing is required between artists and patrons, and patron groups. Please stay home if you have been diagnosed with COVID-19, awaiting test results for COVID-19, or show any symptoms of the virus. What about inclement weather? This is a rain or shine event.
