POMA Selects Lincoln for 2018 POMA Business Conference

FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE: (Johnstown, Penn.)...The Professional Outdoor Media Association (POMA) announces Lincoln, Nebraska as the destination for its 2018 POMA Business Conference, to be held June 12 - 15, 2018. Lincoln Convention and Visitors Bureau and The Graduate Lincoln are excited to be the selected hosts for our #POMA2018 event.

"Lincoln was chosen for its numerous outdoor-related activities, and the diverse  content creation opportunities it can offer conference attendees" said Kevin Orthman, executive director of POMA. "We are excited to bring the nation's leading outdoor journalists to experience all Lincoln has to offer at next year's business conference."

"Outdoor sports and the associated love of the land, wildlife and natural beauty are a big part of the rural nature of our community and our State," said Jeff Maul, Executive Director of the Lincoln Convention and Visitors Bureau. "We are fortunate to have the opportunity to host the 2018 POMA Annual Conference in Lincoln. This event brings together the Nation's most prominent and traditional outdoor sports communicators and partners. For some, this marks their first visit to a community that has consistently ranked in the top 10 on many tourism lists."

The POMA Business Conference is an annual event that draws hundreds of media who write about traditional outdoor sports (hunting, fishing, hiking, travel etc.) from around the country, along with the related conservation organizations and companies that serve the outdoor market.

"This conference will provide content for future articles and rankings that feature the many outdoor opportunities that await the outdoor enthusiast right here in Lincoln," said Maul.

While at the POMA Business Conference, attendees hear from leaders in the field, attend sessions to improve their craft, network and get hands-on with the latest products in the outdoor industry including off-road driving and a day-at-the-range.

"One of our missions in selecting a conference location every year is to showcase the great variety and natural diversity of our nation. There are so many ways you can enjoy the outdoors in America from the purple mountains of Montana to the Great Plains of Nebraska," said Orthman.

The POMA Business Conference has previously been held in Shreveport-Bossier, Louisiana (2017) Kalispell, Montana (2016) and Springfield, Missouri (2015). The 2018 POMA Business Conference in Lincoln will be the organization's 13th annual gathering.

Lincoln, Nebraska has earned a reputation as one of the Midwest's most beloved cities. Home to fine culinary and artistic treasures; a budding live music scene; breathtaking parks, golf courses and trails; and a friendly Midwestern attitude.

POMA's mission is to foster excellence in communications at all levels, help members build their businesses, connect media and industry, promote fair and honest communication of the traditional outdoor sports and conservation stories, and mentor the next generation of traditional outdoor sports communicators.
