Lincoln, Neb. – The 3rd Annual Good Life Halfsy half marathon presented by Bulu Box is Sunday November 6th, 2016. Named one of The Best Half Marathons For First-Timers by Active.com, the race was a big hit with local & regional runners alike reaching its 6,000 runner capacity in July and attracting runners from over 40 states.
The Good Life Halfsy presented by Bulu Box will start at 8:30 AM and sends runners on a scenic point-to-point course from east Lincoln’s Seacrest Field to Canopy Street in Lincoln’s Railyard. Highlights of the route include Holmes Lake, Antelope Valley, Union Plaza, Innovation Campus, historic North Bottom’s Neighborhood, downtown stadiums, the Lincoln pedestrian bridge and a finish line next to The Railyard. Runners will be able to see their triumphant finish on the Cube digital screen in The Railyard. Runners and race patrons can enjoy the Post-Race Festival at the Railyard as well. Participants will pick up their race packets at the Excel Chiropractic & Wellness Expo inside Embassy Suites on November 5th.
Jason Bakewell, race co-director, describes the theme of the race as “a whimsical celebration of Nebraska, its people, icons and culture.” There will be a lot of fun surprises on the course including Cheer Station and entertainments stops that help make the race as much fun for spectators as it is for the runners. They are encouraging friends and family of runners as well as the general public to come out to the course and cheer on race morning.
The race has a tremendous economic impact on the City of Lincoln. Jeff Maul, the Executive Director, of the Lincoln Conventions and Visitors Bureau said, “This is an exciting time for Lincoln and our pursuit of sports events in our city. While we are excited to welcome runners from 40 states and the associated economic impact, this event is a great chance for Lincoln residents to showcase their hospitality while runners enjoy the scenic streets of Lincoln. We are confident that this annual event impacts our ability to attract new visitors and residents to our city.”
Race organizers expect a very competitive field with some of the fastest runners in the state and region entered in this year’s race. Nearly 80 runners have met the event’s Elite Standards of less than 1 hr 29 minutes for women and less than 1 hr 16 minutes for men.
Volunteers can still register to help out on race day and are encouraged to sign up at goodlifehalfsy.com.
