Capital Jazz Society proudly presents a series of live stream events featuring some of the best jazz groups and musicians in the Lincoln and Omaha area. Each event will be live streamed from the Chez Sodo on the Capital Jazz Society’s Facebook page (www.facebook.com/CapitalJazzSociety) on the first Friday of each month from August to December from 8pm to 9:30pm. Live streaming events allows the Capital Jazz Society to present live jazz while also keeping musicians and the audience safe during the pandemic. FRIDAY, AUGUST 7, 2020 – PETER BOUFFARD QUARTET A native of Vermont, Dr. Peter Bouffard holds a DMA in Jazz Studies from the New England Conservatory of Music, an MM in Jazz Education from UNL as well as an AS in Jazz and Contemporary Music and a BMEd from the University of Maine. He has been a member of the University of Nebraska-Lincoln School of Music faculty since 1990 and a member of the Lincoln Public Schools instrumental music faculty since 1993. In addition, he has also been Director of Jazz Activities for the University of Maine Summer Youth Music program for seventeen years. Peter is an active guitarist in the region where he performs for a variety of engagements. He has been an adjudicator, clinician, and/or director for a variety of musical events and organizations including the Maine All-State Jazz Combo, the Nebraska All-State Jazz Band, the Iowa IHCC Jazz Festival, and University of South Dakota Jazz Festival. A composer and arranger, his works have been commissioned for jazz ensemble, symphony orchestra, brass quintet, symphonic band, and jazz vocalists. Peter has toured as a member of the University of Nebraska-Lincoln Faculty Jazz Trio presenting concerts and clinics in Iowa, Kentucky, Maine, Nebraska, Ohio, South Dakota, and Vermont; and has performed internationally with the Nebraska Jazz Orchestra and Lincoln Municipal Band. He has studied privately with John Abercrombie, Jerry Bergonzi, Gene Bertoncini, and John McNeil and has participated in master classes with Pat Metheny, Herb Ellis, and George Russell. In addition, Peter has had the opportunity to perform with a number of well-known jazz artists including Marian McPartland, Bob Brookmeyer, and Steve Allen.
