You may have heard about the Nebraska Innovation Campus in Lincoln, but what is it really and what makes it different? Is it something that can help inspire you or equip your business to grow? Lincoln has a large and growing entrepreneurial community and we are excited to reach out beyond Omaha to bring our mission of inspiring, equipping and connecting veterans and their spouses to explore entrepreneurship. As a public-private partnership built to encourage people to create and transform ideas into global innovation, Nebraska Innovation Campus (NIC) is connecting the talents of experts, companies and the university to create a unique culture of innovation. The campus is designed to facilitate new and in-depth partnerships between the University of Nebraska and private sector businesses. NIC is adjacent to the University of Nebraska–Lincoln and strategically provides access to research faculty, facilities and students. It aspires to be the most sustainable research and technology campus in the United States. Part of NIC is the Nebraska Innovation Studio- a makerspace where creators of all sorts can share ideas, tools and knowledge. It features collaborative workspace and areas for woodworking, fine arts, and rapid prototyping and electronics. University faculty, students, staff and community members are welcome to join the studio for a monthly fee. Members can take part in workshops, be trained on available machines and ultimately, make things here. We'll be speaking with David Martin, the director of Nebraska Innovation Studio. Previously, he was an executive producer at CNN and worked as a correspondent at The Associated Press and Newhouse Newspapers. David also founded True Stories - Live!, a storytelling event in Lincoln. At Nebraska Innovation Studio, he enjoys screen printing and using the CO2 laser.
