Cheddar Quilts from the Joanna Rose Collection In 2011, 650 red and white quilts from the thousand-plus collection of Joanna Rose were exhibited at the Park Avenue Armory. Rose’s collection of historic quilts featuring the sunny orange color better known as “cheddar,” popular from the post-Civil War period to the 1940s, will grace the IQSCM’s large West Gallery in a welcome antidote to the chill of fall and winter.
