The Nebraska Jazz Orchestra is excited to announce its 2018-2019 season, which will include four concerts. This season will feature a wide variety of excellent entertainment, including some fantastic guest artists and educational outreach. Local Boy Makes Good featuring Frank Basile, Baritone Saxophone showcasing the 2019 Young Jazz Artist Winner Thursday, May 16, 2019 - 7:30 p.m. The Cornhusker Marriott 333 South 13th Street - Lincoln, NE After graduating with honors and a bachelor's degree in Jazz Studies from the University of North Texas, Basile moved to New York City in 2001 and was accepted into Julliard's first Jazz Studies program. Basile has been called upon to perform, record, and tour the world with many of jazz's finest musicians and ensembles. In addition to performing regularly in some of New York's major jazz clubs, Basile has maintained a private studio for the past decade and has served as an adjunct faculty member at The New School An Omaha native, Basile was the winner of the first ever NJO Young Jazz Artist Competition in 1996. This performance will feature the 24th winner of the Young Jazz Artist Competition. Young musicians from across the state are chosen by recorded audition to participate in a live finals where a winner and runner-up are selected.
