The Nebraska Tourism Commission honors Lincoln’s online tourism efforts
Lincoln, NE – Last Thursday evening, the Lincoln Convention and Visitors Bureau was awarded with the 2013 Outstanding Tourism Website Award. The award ceremony was presented by the Nebraska Tourism Commission and held in Norfolk, NE to cap off the annual Nebraska Travel Conference. Jeff Maul, Vice President of the Lincoln Convention and Visitors Bureau accepted the award on the organization’s behalf.
The Lincoln Convention and Visitors Bureau released their redesigned website, Lincoln.org last November. The website serves as a central landing point for Lincoln residents and visitors to gain knowledge of upcoming events and activities. The site showcases Lincoln’s new brand, including an array of vibrant new colors and images. Lincoln.org is well-designed to be an online informational tool with easy navigation and mobile capabilities needed for tourists. With all the progress Lincoln has been seeing, the new website is the perfect addition.
Maul was also individually recognized and received the Nebraska Association of Convention and Visitors Bureau 2013 Crystal Compass Award for his service as a member of NACVB. The Crystal Compass is presented every year during the Nebraska Travel conference. Maul received his award last week in Norfolk. The Crystal Compass Award recognizes individuals who have given of themselves to lead this association of statewide convention and visitor bureaus, which in turn strengthens the state's tourism industry. Jeff’s involvement in NACVB’s Meeting Planners Reception each year continues to showcase the great amount of convention offerings to planners across the state. Jeff also was chair of the NACVB for two years.
“It is an honor to be recognized for the Lincoln Convention and Visitors Bureau accomplishments,” said Maul. “We believe Lincoln is an outstanding destination and work to ensure our city is continually hosting a number of conferences, tournaments and tourists and that we are creating a great experience for those visiting. These awards represent our hard work, and we feel privileged to be honored by the Nebraska Tourism Commission and our peers.”
This is the second award the Lincoln Convention and Visitors Bureau has received from the Nebraska Tourism Commission in the past three years. In 2011, the Lincoln Convention and Visitors Bureau was honored with the Outstanding Tourism Campaign Award for its annual ‘Be a Tourist’ program, which encourages Lincoln residents to tour their own hometown throughout the summer months. The program celebrated its 10th anniversary this year and experienced a record number of participants.
